Introduced into Irish music in the mid 60's by Johnny Moynihan
(Sweeney's Men) in Dublin and by Alex Finn (De Danaan) in Galway,
the Bouzouki has fast become an established and popular instrument
from Greece. The Irish Bouzouki has evolved into a flat backed, tear
dropped shape with guitar like scale length, much more user
friendly.
I was commissioned to make this bouzouki for a friend of mine in
Ireland. With a carved back and and top in figured maple and
engleman spruce, it produces a very rich and full sound ideal for
both accompaniment and solo use.
